Connect the printer to the host, turn on the printer, access the "Printers and Faxes" folder through the host's "Control Panel", right-click in the blank area, select the "Add Printer" command, and open the Add Printer Wizard window. Select "Local printer connected to this computer" and check the "Automatically detect and install a plug-and-play printer" check box.
At this time, the host computer will detect the new printer, and will soon find that the printer is already connected. Insert the driver CD that came with the printer into the CD-ROM drive as prompted. After installing the printer driver, click on "Printers and Faxes." The printer's icon will appear in the folder.
Right-click the newly installed printer icon, select the "Share" command, open the printer's Properties dialog box, switch to the "Share" tab, select "Share this printer", and in the "Share Name" input box Fill in the name that needs to be shared, for example, CompaqIJ, and click the OK button to complete the shared settings.
